My Famous Cacao Elixir
I started making these cacao elixirs back in like 2018 and they’ve just STUCK! Truth is, you can really just DIY your own recipe, but I know many of you want some direction on how to make your first few.
I encourage you to get creative with them though! Add adaptogens and mushrooms, throw some turmeric in it or peppermint oil etc. Make it your own!
I used to make these with coconut milk and then I found out that I was mildly allergic to coconut (devastating) so I now reduce the amount of coconut I eat so I don’t ruin my gut lining.
Living in the US, I’m able to get a clean Cashew milk from Elmhurst that I LOVE!!! So that’s what I used for this, but you can just use whatever milk you want!
Back when I used coconut milk, I would use canned coconut milk so that I could avoid fillers that were in the coconut milks that were being advertised for cereal etc. If you do this, just do half canned coconut milk with half water so that you have a regular milk consistency and it’s not like you’re drinking thick cream (unless of course you want that!!)
Ingredients:
- 1tbsp raw cacao (or more depending how dark you like it)
- 5 cups of cashew milk (or your milk of choice)
- 1 scoop of beef collagen
- Optional: splash of maple syrup, adaptogens/mushrooms, cinnamon, peppermint oil, turmeric
Put everything besides the collagen in a saucepan over low heat for 2-5 mins or until warm (do not put it on high heat or you’ll burn the milk).
Place it in a Vitamix, add the collagen and blend until frothy!
OR use a milk frother or stick blender to blend/froth with the collagen and then pour into a cup
Enjoy!
