Immune Boosting Herbalism Guide

Immune Boosting Herbalism Guide

If you know me, you know I’m a big proponent of all things natural and good for you. I’m all about living a clean and toxic-free lifestyle, so 99% of the time, my body and mind feel great, and my energy levels are high.

However, that’s not to say that I never become ill or unwell, and my body definitely knows when to slow me down and force me to rest (in those instances where I’m all go, go, go, and my body is like, “girl, slow down” LOL).

Luckily, I’ve amassed a fantastic list of my tried and tested go-go herbs for when I need healing help, and I’m here to share it with you! Of course, Western medicine has its place too, and by no means am I against it — I just love to use my natural remedies first!

So, let’s get into it.

For fever, oftentimes, our first intention is to break it. But the fever is there for a reason, and if you break it too quickly, it won’t have done what it’s meant to do (aka fight off the virus). That’s why I’ll only break a fever if I’m on day three of the fever and not before that.

Here’s what you’ll take for your fever, and take it hot if possible:

  • ginger

  • lemon balm

  • peppermint

  • thyme

Now, if you have the flu or some lung congestion, and you need to kinda “expel the mucus” (as gross as that is), here’s what you need:

  • licorice root

  • mullein (I take a tonic)

And for everyone’s nemesis (aka a sore throats), here’s how I like to treat them:

  • chamomile tea

  • Beekeeper’s Naturals throat spray

  • saltwater gargle

  • lemon juice in water

Random other notes:

  • eat lots of garlic

  • make ginger shots

  • reduce sugar intake as much as possible

I don’t take turmeric when I have a fever and am fighting a virus because I don’t want to suppress my inflammatory response (as it’s fighting something off), but I do try to take a high dose of turmeric frequently, especially during winter for my knee as the cold (and a lot of skiing) can make it sore.

So, be sure to adopt these healthy practices into your routine, and I'm sure you'll notice your immune system is boosted and supporting you better than ever!

xx Monica
