My Non-Toxic Skincare & Makeup Routine for Everyday Glow

My Non-Toxic Skincare & Makeup Routine for Everyday Glow

You asked, I listened. ;) Here's the full run-down of the skincare and makeup products I'm actually using right now. I'll be honest—my overall vibe is that I’m super low-key when it comes to the products I use on a daily basis (I’m definitely not that b*tch who has a 50-step skincare routine), and OF COURSE everything is non-toxic and hormone-friendly.

My Inside-Out Skincare Philosophy

Collagen and gelatin are two non-negotiables in my routine, and I’ve massively increased both during pregnancy. Your skin builds itself from what you feed it… and I’ve felt the difference. It’s plumper, smoother, more hydrated, and I just feel better overall.

I eat a really clean diet, but not in a fear-based way—in a “what feels good in my body” kind of way. I’m celiac, so gluten is a hard no. I also avoid dairy, except for my third trimester when I’ve been so damn hungry all the time! And when we’re in Europe? Game over. I eat all the dairy. I’m also really strict about avoiding vegetable oils. Unless it’s totally unavoidable, they’re just not welcome in my body.

Lastly, I follow traditional Chinese medicine principles, so I keep my digestion as warm and happy as possible. It makes such a difference in your skin, especially if you’re someone who gets inflamed or reactive easily. Your skin is your gut, externally, after all.

My Morning Skincare & Makeup Routine

First thing, I just splash my face with water in the morning—no cleansing. Then, I use the La Prunier Plum Beauty Oil. It’s great for helping with the facial cupping, gua sha, or facial massage that I do right afterwards to reduce any puffiness.

When it's summer and I know I'll be out in the sun, I’ll use the RMS Beauty SuperNatural Radiance Serum SPF 30 Sunscreen. I mix the light and medium shades to match my skin tone.

Now, for my current favorite everyday makeup:

My Evening Skincare Routine

At night, I wash my face with the Josh Rosebrook Essential Balm Cleanser. It’s oil-based and gets everything off. I’ve used it for years now and absolutely love it.

Then, if I'm not super-tired and just ready for bed, I apply a serum.

  • I rotate between the following Clearstem Skincare serums (psst: use code monicayates for 20% off all Clearstem products!). Some nights I layer them, some nights I just use one, depending on how my skin feels and how I'm vibing:

    • Clearity Serum—( Hot tip: If I’ve got time and I'm not super tired, I let the Clarity Serum sit for 5–15 minutes before moisturizing so it can properly do its thing. Otherwise, the moisturizer can kind of cancel it out.)

    • Cell Renew Serum

    • Bounce Back Serum

  • Other nights, I use the Marie Veronique Soothing B3 Serum, and when I’m not pregnant, I love using the Marie Veronique Gentle Retinol Night Serum.

My favorite moisturizers are from Clearstem (such an amazing brand!!):

Sometimes, I’ll finish up by adding the Clearstem Brighteyes Eye Gel underneath my eyes.

Most of these products—plus everything else I love (clean beauty, supplements, fashion, and more)—are linked on my Favorite Products Page with discount codes where I can give them to you. 11/10 recommend, obviously! 😉

And finally, at the end of the day, please remember that your skin doesn’t need perfection—it needs presence. You don’t have to overhaul everything overnight or spend a fortune on products. Just start with what feels nourishing. Pick one thing that supports your body, your hormones, your nervous system… and let it build from there. Your skin will tell you when it feels safe. And when it does, she glows.
