Navigating Seasonal Shifts to Stay in a Positive Vibe

We're in the middle of fall with winter just around the corner, and can I just say, I am LOVING these vibes!


I know a lot of you are summer sun lovers, but I am firmly team winter, and the vibes, well... they're vibing. 😉 Ski season is calling my name, and so is sauna season (I mean, sauna season is year-round for me LOL), and enjoying a nice cup of tea and reading session cozied up next to the fire.


If, however, you're anticipating the changing seasons with much less excitement than I am, I totally understand and I've got your back! I've put together a high-vibes list of ways to stay energized and positive over the colder months so that you can combat the Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD – very aptly named) that affects so many people. 


So, let's dive into ways you can not only survive but thrive during fall and winter. Let's turn these seasons into a time of self-discovery and coziness!


Find Joy in New Hobbies

Who says winter has to be bleak? Dive into activities that spark joy, even if you're not a fan of the season. Ever thought about trying your hand at skiing (highly recommend) or skating? Or maybe join a book club. It's amazing what a new hobby can do for your spirits! Plus, you'll see the snow as a reason to get excited for your hobby, instead of a reason to stay stuck indoors (unless you're in book club, of course!)


Focus on Self-Care

Self-care doesn't need to be a major production. One of the easiest ways to incorporate this into your day is before bed (bonus: helps your sleep, too!). Light some candles, do your face routine, and maybe have some of your favourite soothing songs playing OR do this while doing a guided meditation or listening to mantras/affirmations. It's soothing, it's calming, and it makes such a simple part of the day feel absolutely delectable.

Sauna, Light Therapy, & More

This continues on my point of focusing on self-care. Treat yourself to sauna sessions, indulge in light therapy, ensure you're getting quality sleep, move your body daily, bask in the sun when it's out, and stay social. These small but impactful habits can make a world of difference.


Declutter and Cleanse Your Space

A tidy space equals a tidy mind. Take some time to declutter and clean your environment. A fresh, organized space can make you feel more in control and ready to tackle whatever the season throws your way. I'm the Queen of leaving mugs around my office, but an overall tidy environment is more soothing than you might think!


Get Outside in the Sunshine

When the sun peeks through the clouds, seize the opportunity to get outdoors. A brisk walk, some gardening (get those garden beds ready for the spring), or just soaking up the sunlight on your porch can do wonders for your mood. I love that Butter and Jelly need to get outside, so it forces me out even when I may not feel like it.


Nourish with Balanced Meals

Fuel your body with goodness. Embrace nourishing and balanced meals that support your physical AND mental health. The fall and winter are the perfect times to host gatherings and dinners, so pop on a cute apron, and feel feminine as f*ck in the kitchen.


Always try to remember that it's entirely possible to turn these seasons into a time of personal growth and joy. With new hobbies, self-care rituals, and a mindful approach to your well-being, you've got the tools to find any season of life expansive.
