My Wedding Weekend Outfits (The Full Breakdown)

My Wedding Weekend Outfits (The Full Breakdown)

When it came to my wedding, one thing was crystal clear—I wanted every guest to look extra. There was no "you might outshine the bride" energy because, let’s be real, everyone was going to know I was the bride.

The outfits—from mine to my guests—were on another level.

I got SO many messages about how my guests looked so put-together and fabulous, and I owe that to the insane amount of detail I put into my wedding website so NO ONE was clueless about the vibe. Like, people straight-up said, "Monica, you can tell you run a business, because this level of organization is next-level."

No one had to wonder what to wear, what colors were a ‘yes’ or ‘no’, or if they were going to stick out like a sore thumb—because it was all laid out for them.

So if you’re planning a wedding and want your guests to look like they belong in Vogue, I’ll be packaging up all my templates, checklists, and guest attire guides soon. Because this level of organization should be the standard.

Every single outfit I wore was either custom or semi-custom, because I wanted them to feel so uniquely me.

For my welcome party, my outfit was designed from scratch—this long dramatic top that skimmed the floor, a chic little singlet, and pants. I drew it up, sent inspo, and the designers took my vision and made it even better.

For my rehearsal dinner, I wore a semi-custom J. Andreatta dress but made tweaks. We moved the toga-style shoulder piece across my neck, put the slit on my right leg (cause whilst I don't care about the scars on my left leg, if I could hide them, I wanted that). And then we took off the 'bling bling' that was on the slit and over the shoulder. I also wore this same dress as my first dance stress on our wedding night because I'm all about a re-use moment!!

My wedding dress was originally set on a tulle dress. Had it designed. Paid the deposit. Thought I was done.

But then… my gut was like NOPE.

I was so over searching, and I thought maybe I was waiting for a ‘this is THE dress’ moment that wasn’t going to come. Custom dresses mean you never try them on fully until they’re finished, so there’s always this leap of faith involved.

And then, on a flight to Paris, I couldn’t sleep, started scrolling Instagram, and saw an Oscar de la Renta dress that came up as an ad.

It wasn’t the dress, but it had the vibe I had been desperately searching for. The structure. The foral cut out fabric that semi-reminded me of lace, the timeless but sexy editorial feel.

I took it to Steven Khalil, showed him my inspo, and he sketched up the final vision.

Funnily enough, I'd never tried on a lace dress. I don't know why in all the fitting that we did, I never put lace on. So part of me was really nervous about this becuse I had no idea what full white lace looked like on me. But I trusted my gut. I didn't want a dress that I outgrew in 1.5 years (we were ahead of our timeline because I had to line my dress fittings up with our Australia trips).

I didn't want a fully traditional dress, but by blending the lace with some modern elements (deep structured neckline, and a bit see through when the light hit) it just felt SO ME.

Like how I want my man to lead me but I'm the breadwinner. Blending the old with the new is everything I'm about.

For our wedding night afterparty, I wore this Cinderella vibe blue dress. I never planned on a blue dress—but when I was shopping with my bridesmaids, they begged me to try it on. Hal loves that neckline on me (even though I never wear it), so it felt like a cute nod to him and I just love going against the grain. So a colored dress was a yes from me, and it means I can easily wear it again in the future as it doesn't scream bridal.

Something I’m so glad I did: I had extra seam allowance added to all my dresses (except my mini one), so they can be taken out later.

Why? Because I want to wear them again—and with our plans for a family, my rib cage and pelvis could change size.

I loved every outfit I wore. Each one had a story behind it, and they all reflected different parts of my personality.

Our guests looked incredible, my bridesmaids all wore different colors and styles, and the whole weekend was a literal dream.

So if you’re a bride-to-be? Make sure your outfits feel like YOU.

And for the love of fashion, make sure your guests know what to wear—because no one should be guessing at the dress code.

Best day ever. Best dresses ever. No regrets.
